Trauma Healing
Traumatic events and high levels of stress are a part of life. As much as we’d like to think otherwise, these events and patterns play a large role in how we live our lives and see the world. As Peter Levine PhD, the founder of Somatic Experiencing® says, “trauma is not in the event, but in the nervous system”. Figuring out how to heal from trauma can be overwhelming and next to impossible without proper guidance.
Sudden or ongoing trauma and stress can cause us to become stuck in the fight, flight, or freeze response resulting in imbalance and dis-regulation in our nervous system. These imbalances can seem subtle at first but over time they determine the path and quality of our entire life.
Unresolved, these can cause health issues, emotional pain and mental instability. Often displayed in the form of anxiety, depression, chronic pain, high reactivity, panic attacks, insomnia, overwhelm, or autoimmune conditions. In addition, we can experience an inability to focus and connect with others as well as a lack of joy and well-being.
Having experienced trauma myself, I draw from my knowledge of trauma resolution, stress management and personal transformation to help clients find their way back to themselves. I incorporate the modality Somatic Experiencing which is a psychobiological method for resolving symptoms of trauma and chronic stress. I create a safe and nurturing space helping to support ones nervous system to regain its intrinsic balance. This allows individuals to develop a greater sense of resilience, ease, well being and connectedness.
I work specifically with developmental and generational trauma - addressing the earliest parts of life when needs were not adequately met. These early imprints shape who we are and how we move through the world in our adult lives.
Prenatal & Postpartum Care
I provide Mother-centered prenatal and postpartum care that supports nervous system resilience and deepens maternal instinct. My approach is rooted in the innate intelligence of the body and in the connection between mother and baby. By supporting women through a sacred transition to motherhood, they can have a mothering journey that is deeply regenerative, nourishing, instinctual and joyful.
I offer education, virtual and in-home care to support the physiologic design and innate needs of the mother and family from preconception through postpartum. I integrate the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of this tender phase, to support new and growing families to thrive.
My commitment to maternal and family care is grounded in the understanding that when we as parents engage in our own healing work, our children will heal too. I believe that healthy families are the base for thriving life and healthy communities. And centering the health of Mothers is the most effective ripple - to create the change that our world so deeply needs.
I believe in your body’s innate capacity to heal. If you are not yet able to hold this same belief, I will carry it for you until you are.
